We’ve all been invited to a birthday, wedding, or some celebration. I still remember when invitations came in the mail, beautifully crafted. Today, most come via text or email. Either way, how does it feel to receive an invitation? Sometimes, it can feel like just one more thing to do—daunting when our plates are full. Other times, it feels warm, knowing someone specifically chose to include you. There’s something powerful about being pursued and wanted.

But every celebration has its “end day.” Fun comes, then it ends.

Recently, I was sitting alone with my coffee, trying to quiet the noise in my head and hear from my Heavenly Father.  I deeply needed nourishment only He can provide. The Holy Spirit whispered one word: “Invitation.” That word has stayed with me ever since.

I realized I was in a season of feeling stretched thin, overwhelmed, and feeling disconnected from my true identity in Jesus only to hear the lies of the enemy nagging in my ear. And then it hit me: Every single morning before I even wake from my slumber and start my day, there is an incredible INVITATION from the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—just for me. For you, too!

This isn’t an invitation to a temporary event. The God of all creation invites us and is waiting for us to come and sit with Him and allow Him to fill up our cup. When we say “Yes,” we experience His love, His perspective, and the grace that Jesus offers.

When I said “Yes,” I heard Him remind me who I am: I am a beloved daughter of my Father, a sister to Jesus Christ, and a dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. Not a failure. Not unworthy. Not defined by circumstances. This is my identity that My Father wants me to walk out in every area of my life.

God’s invitations are everywhere in Scripture. Here are a few:

1. Love and Relationship

  • “We love because He first loved us.” — 1 John 4:19
  • “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” — James 4:8

God’s love always moves first. He invites us to receive it, then to live from that love. This is a durable, steadfast relationship that can weather every storm.

2. Hear and Follow

  • “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”— John 10:27
  • “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” — Matthew 4:19

God invites us to listen for His voice and to walk closely behind Him. This isn’t about performance — it’s about relationship. When we follow, we learn His ways, hear His heart, and discover purpose. There is nothing better this side of heaven than to be KNOWN by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

3. Abide

  • “I am the vine; you are the branches… apart from me you can do nothing.” — John 15:5

To abide means to remain — to settle in and stay close. Jesus invites us to rest in Him, to draw our life and strength from His presence daily. When we abide, fruit grows organically and abundantly.

4. Abundance

  • “I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” — John 10:10
  • “I have come down to deliver them… to a land flowing with milk and honey.” — Exodus 3:8

The Father’s plan for us has always been abundance — a full, overflowing life rooted in His goodness. He invites us to step into His provision and live from His fullness, not our lack.

5. Rest and Stillness

  • “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
  • “He leads me beside still waters.” — Psalm 23:2

Jesus is our source of rest. He invites us to slow down, to stop striving, and to trust that He is working even when we rest. Stillness isn’t weakness, it’s faith in motion.

6. Peace and Trust

  • “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” — John 14:27
  • “Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7

The peace that Jesus offers us is not as the world gives. The invitation to peace in John 14:27 is a deep, inner wholeness and calm rooted in trust and union with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — a peace that circumstances can’t take away. His peace isn’t fragile; it’s a gift that anchors us.

7. Surrender

  • “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you.” — Psalm 55:22

He invites us to lay everything down — the worries, control, and striving — at His feet. Surrender isn’t losing; it’s trusting that He can hold what we can’t.

What invitation is the Lord inviting you to say “Yes” to today? God initiates, goes first, and pursues us with His love. Every “Come,” “Abide,” and “Be still” is a doorway to deeper intimacy. May you say “Yes” to His invitation today, and watch what flows from your cup in the overflow of His love!
