Anchoring Core Truths

There are powerful persons and forces actively, aggressively working against Christians who want to engage in difference-making by disciple-making. If we are going to succeed, our ministry must be anchored in unwavering, steadfast beliefs. Our Father has given me three core truths that effectively secure my passion and energy for this work, even when the seas get rough. I encourage you to either grab on to these for yourself or seek other core truths from Him that will anchor you.

I’ve outlined these core truths in detail in my book MAKE: Unlock People. I’m going to briefly review them with you in this blog article so you can see for yourself their importance and how we can overcome them.

Life is a Struggle

God gave Adam and Eve a warning in the Garden of Eden. He commanded Adam, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die” (Genesis 2:16–17 Emphasis mine). God’s warning was not limited to physical death, also meant that humanity would suffer everything that leads to death: disease, sickness, depression, anxiety, fear, birth defects, miscarriages, jealousy, anger, rage, addiction, gluttony, laziness, loneliness, and every other form of sin and darkness that separates man from God’s intention in creating the tree of life.

Creation was so corrupted that both the prophet Isaiah and the apostle Peter foretold that the heavens and the earth will one day be re-created, Peter going so far as to say that the original versions will be burned with fire (Isaiah 65:17; 2 Peter 3:10–13).

Because of this schism between God and man, everyone struggles in life. Everyone. I often meet people who seem to have it easy. They are successful in business, good-looking; they drive the right car; and on the surface, they have a great marriage. Then I get to know them, and I learn about their struggles, their wounds, and the underlying issues they deal with.

Jesus has Supremacy

Jesus is THE source of LIFE and VICTORY! He alone has overcome the internal and external ravages of sin. His supremacy conclusively proves that He is the complete and perfect solution to life’s struggles.

Check out the first five chapters of the Gospel of Mark—you’ll find Jesus winning everywhere.

Mark lobs one joy-bomb after another in rapid-fire to display
the supremacy of Jesus over everything, everywhere, and every- one at every time! At the end of Mark 5, you should be thinking, Alright, I get it! Jesus is THE Man!

His supremacy is so liberating because the one who believes in Him can rest, freed from their anxious search for someone with answers to their struggles.

As the Master of both eternal life and abundant life, Jesus is the supreme solution to the struggles of life.

Personal Discipleship is Powerful

Christians can be super clear about the who (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). We can be excited about the what (His promises and plans), the where (His direction), and the when (His timing) of all things God. But if we are not gaining clarity in how we will be left confused. Some people just cannot seem

to break out of what I call “the tortured middle” spot no matter what they try. Usually, the reason is the same—they struggle to understand how to walk in a relationship with Jesus.

I am firmly convinced that the best way to love and train people in how to follow Jesus is through personal discipleship. Personal discipleship is the most powerful, most effective means of raising up people to become strong, victorious, faithful, reproducing Christians.

So, what about you? Are you struggling with the how? Or are you a veteran Christian who has the knowledge but is unsure where to begin helping others grow in their faith? My book MAKE: Unlock People will help you and give you a solid roadmap to produce wholehearted followers of Jesus.

MAKE: Unlock People and the other two books of this trilogy are available from our Trexo website or Amazon.
