“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”

2 Corinthians 5:17

How aware are you of the work God our Father is doing in you? Do you believe He is at work in you? What is He doing? Does our Father do bad, shoddy work?

Scripture is abundantly clear that Father, Son, and Holy Spirit work together in us to do wonderful, amazing things. Do you really believe that the work they do is not cool? Not exciting? What They are doing, only They can do. And They are doing it to you.

The Apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that the beginning of Their work is to re-create you. Not rehabilitate. Not renovate. Re-create. When you gave your life to Jesus you were re-created. Whoever you were died. Dead. D-E-A-D. And you were reborn by the POWER of the Holy Spirit. You are a “NEW CREATURE” with “NEW THINGS.”

This Holy Spirit recreation is the exact point that confounds Nicodemus, a Jewish leader, when he comes to Jesus in John 3. Jesus says, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God” (John 3:3). Nicodemus can’t understand. Jesus is not talking about rehabilitation or renovation. Nicodemus stumbles because Jesus offers re-creation. Jesus adds, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God” (John 3:6).

Jesus teaches that the Holy Spirit re-creates anyone who surrenders to Him. Once an enemy of God, now recreated as a child. Once bound by the flesh to pursue a life of self-centeredness, now recreated to have, and pursue, a Spirit-filled LIFE. Once pressed into the image of the world, now recreated in the image of Jesus.

NEW CREATURE

NEW THINGS

How aware are you of the re-creating work our Father has done, and is doing, in you with the Spirit and the Son?

The invitation to you is to learn how to fall in love with the NEW GUY. I am not asking you to fall in love with the old guy. That guy is dead. Quit resurrecting him. Quit staring at him. Quit glancing at him. QUIT. The NEW GUY is where the juice runs freely. The NEW GUY is not perfect. The NEW GUY is in process. The NEW GUY makes big time mistakes. The NEW GUY is alive only, and totally, in the Holy Spirit. The NEW GUY is learning to walk by grace.

The old guy is not worthy to be loved. The NEW GUY? 100%.

This is a short blog. The message does not require much. If you cannot see what our Father is doing in you, ask Him to show you. Journal. Ask Him to show you why you are having trouble seeing what He is doing. Share your struggle with a trusted, veteran in the Lord.

Hey, do you really believe what God does is second rate? Do you really believe He has saved His top shelf work for others? Come on. You are beloved in our Father’s family.

Relax back into the incomparable work of your Creator.

Focus on the NEW.

Soak on the NEW.

That feeling…the weight coming off…the light of hope in you…all the negativity loosening…ahh…that is the Holy Spirit saying, “Hello.”

Let Him teach you to fall in love with the NEW GUY.
