What if the problem isn’t that you feel too much, but that you don’t let yourself feel at all? In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus gives us a radically different model for emotional health. He doesn’t stuff his grief, minimize his distress, or pretend he’s fine. He allows himself to feel deeply and fully, even as he remains surrendered to the Father. Jim and Kate talk about the ways we learn unhealthy emotional patterns from family, culture, and experience, and why Jesus gives us permission to unlearn them. Healthy emotional processing isn’t about being ruled by our emotions or running from them. It’s about slowing down, paying attention, and allowing the Holy Spirit to meet us in what we actually feel.
